My Simple Solution to the Super Bowl Scandal
Gary North – January 23, 2015
Don’t let Brady play.
Brady knew. Brady pays. Deflate Brady.
Brady gets tarred and feathered. He gets to be the only quarterback in NFL history to be banned from a Super Bowl game. He will never shake this. He becomes the Joseph Hazelwood of NFL history. (Look him up.)
Everyone wants the game. There is too much money on the line not to play. The ads are ready. The ad agencies are flush. The pizza dough has been ordered.
It’s way too late to bring in the Colts.
I don’t care, one way or the other.
If the back-up quarterback plays — whoever he is — the Patriots play at a disadvantage. If they win, then the best team wins. The Seahawks fly home without their Super Bowl rings. What else is new?
If the Seahawks get to play against a back-up quarterback, they’re happy. They get a major advantage.
The fans still get a game whose outcome is in question.
The Super Bowl is a national ritual. Nations need rituals. Churches have holy communion: bread and wine. Football fans have pizza and beer.

The facts no one wants to read.
