Corporate Fines

The government continuously levies larger and larger fines on corporations.

This is corruption not justice:

—  the fines do not punish the guilty

—  the purpose of the fines is to enrich government coffers

The guilty are the officers, directors and directly involved employees of the corporation.

The fines steal money from the shareholders.

The shareholders did not violate the law.

The shareholders are

—  individuals

—  mutual funds(owned by individuals and pension plans)

—  pension plans

The fines should be levied against the individuals violating the law.

These people made the decisions, not the shareholders.

All officers, directors and employees directly involved should be personally liable for any and all fines.

Nor should the corporation be allowed to reimburse them in any way.

This change in the law would put an end to corporate crime.

Why has the law not been changed?

Corrupt politicians:

—  the officers and directors provide campaign support to the politicians

—  the fines enrich the government(no crimes means no fines)
